Long Description:

My wife inherited these chairs from her grandmother about 10 years ago. They have just been sitting in the garage waiting for us to use them, but we don't have space. We were told at the time they had a value of around $5000, but I'm not sure what this is based on. It is a beautiful set and we are considering selling them if the price is right. Problem is I don't even know where to begin. I'm not sure which era they are from. And I have looked all over and don't see signs of who the manufacturer is.

Can anyone tell me which decade these appear to come from? And if this looks like it came from a specific manufacturer that someone is aware of. I just don't even know where to start on this?

Thanks

Adam

Long Description:

Twenty years ago, I purchased 6 of Chippendale chairs at a garage sale.  A few of them began falling apart so I put them in storage.

I've decided to fix them and noticed that there's some writing in black marker where the chair back meets the seat. It appears to be European writing, as the 7 has the line crossed, and the 9 is written differently than we in the USA write 9's.

It's hard to see, but it appears to read s.25 985 PW H.24 on one chair

The other chair reads s25 997 px a8.

4 of the chairs are in great condition, two need to be repaired. The seats have been reupholstered several times that I know about. They have ball and claw feet in the front and a shell design on the top.

There are round metal flathead screws on that hold the chairs together.

I'd love to hear if anyone thinks these are old or have any value.

Thanks so much!

A pair of matching antique chairs, unknown origin & made of unknown wood.  Chair seats have coils inside. Fabric is floral & possibly "yellowed" from age. Grandmother born in 1896 used to refer to them as her Queen Anne chairs.  We're not sure they are actually Queen Anne chairs ;)   Both chairs have wooden caster wheels on all 4 legs except for 1 of the chairs has metal studs in place of the castors on back legs.  I would like to know what the chairs are worth & then make offer to sell.  slane0128@yahoo.com

Long Description:

Family heirloom dining set, not sure what type of wood, great-aunt's grandmother owned so must be turn-of-the-century.  Is it Victorian?  All pieces in tact, good shape: sideboard, china closet, table and 6 chairs.  What is it worth? Ideas on how to investigate/identify would be most appreciated.  Thanks so much!
