I once did some research and found that this may be done by somebody that lived in Rembrandts time and actually got in trouble for selling portraits of Rembrandt that he was painting. Rembrandt took him to court and they said this man could not copy the portraits exactly as Rembrandt painted them. The man then started painting everything the same except the hand, which is the way that this painting is done.Is this one of them paintings? Does anyone have an idea of a price?Im I 100% wrong on everything? I would appreciate any info you may have.
The paintings are reverse glass painted....thats means they have been painted on the back side of the glass. It seems that they used foil you can see it from the front. There is no signature but it tells you what the subject is
Fort Ticonderoga and Ruins on the Rhine .
This was working in 1989 before it went into storage. I haven't tested it and plan to take it to a restoration professional so that I don't light my house on fire :) There is no rust, though it could use a quick scrub down.
My wife inherited this painting from her boss. The daughter of the now deceased owner claims it is an original Thomas Blinks. It is the 2 hunting hounds in a landscape. The receipt for the frame indicates that it was meticulously sealed and the frame cost more than $1,000 when purchased in the late 1970's I have viewed this painting on line and our painting does not exhibit quite the color contrast that I see there. I need some method of authenticaton with a minimal investment for deciding it's value. I have no experience with oil paintings and limited funds.
The large serving bowl is about 10" across ,it had scalloped edges that are trimed in gold. There are 12 smaller nappies and they are all look like the larger one. They seem to have hand painted birds and branches painted on them .The large bowl has three different birds on it and there are three different birds painted on each nappie. There are 12 nappies 4 nappies for each different bird .
As you can see it is a brass candle holder . The tall bars on either side let the protective cylinder slide up and down .When the candle is tall it is at the top as it burns down it can be lowered. It does the same purpose as holding your hand in front of the candle as you walk with it. It works very well. There are two screw knobs on the cylinder that tighten on the bars to hold it in place
