1935 Pace "Comet"
"These two slot machines were part of Pace's new line for 1935. First on the left is a stnadard, very fancy "Comet Twin Jakpot Bell" which was also available in a gum ball and mint vender models for 1 cent, 5 cents, and 10 cents play with an $80.00 price tag. This machine featured the familiar Pace 6-coin rotary escalator for the quick detection of illegal slug play while providing an interesting animated coin display. The big twin jackpot display dumped alternately when hit, one side always full while the other side filled automatically - one coin added every time a cherry combination was achieved. The jackpot amounts were also adjustable, usually set at $5.00 - $7.50 on nickel machines. The styling of the "Comet" was very striking, all-out-gingerbread; an absolutely classic slot machine. The highly polished aluminum front with brightly painted inserts really brought in the nickels."Â
