Description Cannon was found in New Mexico and was covered in rust and dirt. I cleaned item with a non-acidic rust remover and steel wool. There is a very small date hand stamped on the back of the cannon that appears to be 1728 the last number is pretty faded and hard to read. I don't see any other distinguishing marks on the cannon.

You have a signal cannon from a ship, I think it is later then the 1700's, it's odd that the casting marks are so visible, I have the exact gun in my collection, Paid $700 for it in 2017.
