I have a 1883 New Home.  I would love to compare the two machines.

Re: 1879 new home sewing machine

Your machine is worth about what you paid for it at auction. There is very little demand for treadle sewing machines, and very few are worth more than a couple of hundred dollars when refinished and restored to anyone but dedicated collectors. The reason being that New Home and Singer produced tens of millions of these machines, with virtually every home of any means having one until the 1940's.
