Description

I have a 16x20 oil painting named The Golden Hind by Hans Skalagard. It was painted in 1975. It is unique because there is a ship called the Golden Hind with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Both were from totally different eras. The ship was sailed by Sir Francis Drake in the late 1500s and the Golden Gate wasnt built until the early 1900s. I have seen many pieces by this artist that were either ocean scenes or of old ships but I havent seen anything by him that includes a famous landmark like the Golden Gate. The Artist is still alive at 90 years old and he lives in Petaluma CA. I have had this painting for over 15 years and have kept it stored in a box. It has a lemon sized impression on it. I was told that its an easy repair. Its still in its original packing material and has never been displayed. I can see some paint strokes on the canvas and smudge marks from the artists hands on the back.

Category Fine Art
Medium Canvas with wooden frame
Distinguishing marks Paint brush strokes are noticeable and there are smudge marks from the artists hands when he was stretching the canvas indicating that its not a reprint. The Artist signed it once on the front and twice on the back. The second on the back was a copyright signature.
