Description
Antique Sterling Silver Overlay Flask. I believe it was made between 1886-1893 but cannot be positive. The marks on the bottom of the flask include the Alvin Manufacturing Maker Mark as well as the word "Sterling" and "F 6-6 C". Unfortunately, my camera flash blurs out the markings. The flask does not have any monograms and the bottom removes for drinking. The flask has a couple of small dings on the top and needs to be polished (I prefer not to polish it prior to selling-I will leave that to the buyer).
Re: Alvin Manufacturing Sterling Silver Overlay Flask
Overlay pieces like this tend to date from the turn of the 19th Century. The American examples are harder to date than the English type, as the English pieces are all hallmarked right to the date of manufacture. At auction I see these go for about $150.00.
