Description

Antique Chinese porcelain piece. I'm not sure of the original origin as it says Shanghai New York, but my grandmother was known to travel the country a lot. I know it's from at least the 1900s but may be even older.

I believe this to actually be a Chinese "ginger jar". These porcelain jars were used to store herbs. It was called a "guan" or jar. I don't know exact year, but it's possible that it's from the 40's since Shanghai was a commerce hub during that period of time. I don't know it's value, but I've seen very ornate collectible pieces sell from $40 to around $1,000 depending on rarity.
