ANTIQUE DRESSER, HUTCH AND CHAIRS

By CuriousNewbie, 29 December, 2012
Description

Hello, I purchased these pieces via private sale a few months ago.  I have no history and no distinguishing marks. I have searched for pieces similar but found nothing.  All I am told is the chairs were reupholstered at some point.  The chairs were also painted- badly.  I am wondering if they are antiques, knock offs?  If they should be refinished, reupholstered, or can they be painted?  Or is it not worth it to do anything?

I don't have great pictures.  But the gold and green chairs have a scrolled heart carved into the wood on top and a swirled hand and foot.  The dresser and hutch have both raised and recessed carvings and no nails or screws holding it together. They are both fairly heavy for their size.
