Description
I bought this at an antique mall for $6. It is about a foot long and 5 inches high and 7.5 inches wide. It appears one of the feet was broken and repaired at one point and there are two chips in it, each about a centimeter wide. One on the inside and one on the outside where one of the animals heads would have been. There is also noticeable crazing inside. The mark underneath it, according to tableideas.com, dates it somewhere between 1866 and 1875. There is texture to the designs, and the detail is quite impressive. I tried to take photos showing the different angles and flaws, which are attached. Any feedback is greatly appreaciated.
Re: Antique Gien Footed Bowl/Tureen
This looks to me like a Gien of France Louis XV soup tureen. Do you have the lid with it? I have seen these being sold (with lid) for around 1400 euros or around $1900 US. The style is called Renaissance Fond Bleu. You can still purchase these new today.
