This dining set was purchased by my mother from her hairdresser in Syracuse, NY around 1966 and was the focus of our home for many years. It was moved to Arizona in 1986, which did not seem to make it happy, as many of the joints are loose. I have been told that it is an "antique reproduction", that it was made in the 1920s or 30s, and that it is mahagony. The set consists of the table, 6 chairs, one with arms, sideboard and china cabinet. The table has one leaf that stores below the top. The china cabinet had pulls matching those on the sideboard, one of which was lost or damaged. The finish appears to be shellac, and the decorations appear to be inlaid. My mother told me several years ago that someone had told her the set was worth around $35,000. Regardless of its value, I would like to find someone who can appreciate it the way my family once did, as it's a magnificent set but needs a new owner. There's also a 3-pane Murro mirror that's been with the set and which I'd like to know the value of.
