Description

From familiarity with the piece, my mother tells me is came over from Europe when they moved here from Denmark. She feels strongly that the chair is late 1800's from Scandanavia/Sweden as it belonged to my great grandmother. There are no makers marks on it, and the chair looks very handmade due to imperfections. The condition is really good except for the fact that the legs are a bit wobbly.

It's actually what's called a "Boston Rocker" and is an American chair. These were made from the 1830's through the 1850's, all of them were painted, most with stenciled decorations.
