You made a good scoop, roll

You made a good scoop, roll tops of any description in the rough are worth $500.00, large examples fully restored often sell for over $2500.00 in the right market.

Hi Tonya, I just inherited

Hi Tonya,

I just inherited my Dads rolltop Standart desk that is in good condition but needs refinishing.  I was quoted $2000.00 for refinishing.  The desk is so rare and beautiful (and sentimental to me) that I'm going to find a way to ger it done.  Perhaps I'll have the pro's strip it and I'll do the rest  Good luck with your desk!

Re: antique roll top desk from standard furniture co. in ...

I INHERITED MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER'S STANDARD ROLLTOP DESK WITH ONE DESK CHAIR AND ONE HIGHER "PATIENT'S" CHAIR.IT IS OF A DARK WOOD.  HE WAS A JEWELER/OPTICIAN. I ALSO HAVE A JEWELER'S BENCH THAT SEEMS TO MATCH BUT I CAN'T FIND THE NAME ON IT..IT HAS BRASS AROUND ALL OF THE KNOBS .ALL ARE IN GREAT CONDITION. OUR CHILDREN HAVE NO INTEREST IN ANYTHING THAT HAS BEEN IN OUR FAMILY FOR SO MANY GENERATIONS AND WE FIGURE OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL FOLLOW THEIR PARENTS. WE WOULD LIKE TO SELL ALL OF OUR ANTIQUES, INCLUDING THESE ITEMS. WE HAVE A LARGE AMOUNT OF ANTIQUES AND MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER WAS FROM TANNHEIM, GERMANY SO THERE ARE ALSO BLACK FOREST ITEMS. EVERYONE TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF EVERYTHING. WHERE COULD WE GET THE BEST PRICES, THAT ARE FAIR, FOR ALL OF OUR ITEMS? ALSO, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, SOME QUITE RARE AS WE WILL ENJOY THE MONEY FROM THEM SINCE NOONE SEEMS TO BE INTERESTED WHICH IS A SHAME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
