Antique writing desk

I don't know much about it except that it spent most of its life in an Indiana farmhouse. My dad said it originally belonged to his grandmother. There are no markings except for some characters that look handwritten on the bottom of the drawer. Desk, when folded up, is 32" high, 34" wide, and 19" deep. It weighs about 50 lb.
