Bent wood chairs like this tend to date from the late 19th century, they were invented by a company called Thonet, who held the patent rights and cornered the market for them for almost 20 years. After the patent expired many other companies began producing their own versions. These chairs have been made in huge numbers, most in as is condition often sell at auction for under $100.00.

Thank you, I was doing some searching and found out that the two names stamped on it were jacob and josef. it was made in Austria. it said that josef died in 1869 the father was jacob. it said they were made between 1700 and 1869. do you think this is true?

Probably 1910-1920, they merged with another company in 1923 or close to that. There are several similar style J&J chairs for sale online in the $100-150 range. Really nice.
