Description
This desk has 3 drawers on each side. The bottom drawers are deeper and so have a false front "extra-drawer" appearance. My wife says, "Cute as can be. Bowed fromt. Dark finish."
Small part of the gold seems to have rubbed off towards the front of the embossed lines.
Includes Duncan Phyfe lyre-back chair, no cushion, also 1940 or before, which might be worth more separately?? (So, note to appraiser: How much is the chair worth separately? We'll include the chair regardless.)
Re: desk with gold-embossed leather top
This is a Federal Revival Style desk & chair made during the second quarter of the 20th Century. These were mass produced pieces, most were made before WW2 , but the style remains in production to this day. At auction for the pair $300.00.

Saw your comment on this and was hoping you could help with an item I just posted today. Its a J.B. Van Sciver china cabinet. You sound like you know what your talking about. Please help if you can. Thank you
Re: desk with gold-embossed leather top
I believe I already have, check the search instappraisal box on the upper right of this page. Type in Lovejoy and "J.B. Van Sciver china cabinet" If I've looked at it it would be listed in there.

Nice desk. I always prefer to have a leather desk. This is gold-embossed, so it is pretty cool. I like it.
