Electrola RE-75 (RE75) Victor with 8 Filled Record Albums

By Kateema, 14 December, 2010
Description

There is another site that had this picture and this is the model, but it also has 8 Record Albums filled with records from Columbia and Victor. Would like to know approximate value as I have dealers coming in to look at several things and this is one item that I have never tried to price before.

http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/rca_electrola_re75.html

Thank you.

Re: Electrola RE-75 (RE75) Victor with 8 Filled Record Albums

This item, is a late 1920's equivalent to an "entertainment" center.  It has an AM radio with a phonograph, and mimics, by design, consoles that sold for  fity times more, seven years before, its original sale price of $350.00 back in 1930.

Even though this item is rare, and very few were buiilt,  in  today's market, this item probably would auction for less than a few thousand dollars.  Mainly because, RCA made most of their money from licensing their patents on radio design, than for selling quality electronics.

The radio portion of this console is a TRF,regenerative receiver.  By 1930, superheterodyne radios were the norm, with automatic gain control, making this radio substandard from its competition for that period.
