Georg Jensen Silverware Set

The Georg Jensen silverware set in the Acorn pattern is a highly collectible and renowned line of sterling silver flatware designed by Johan Rohde in 1915. The Acorn pattern is recognized for its elegant and timeless design, featuring a detailed acorn motif at the handle's top, symbolic of growth and longevity. Georg Jensen, a Danish silversmith, is famous for his craftsmanship and high-quality silverware, making this set desirable among collectors.

Details:

  1. Designer and Maker: The set is crafted by Georg Jensen, with the Acorn pattern designed by Johan Rohde.
  2. Material: Sterling silver.
  3. Set Contents: A complete set of approximately eight place settings, as shown, including serving utensils.
  4. Condition: Excellent, with no visible tarnish or damage.
  5. History and Significance: The Acorn pattern has been a staple in Georg Jensen's collection for over a century, making it a sought-after item in the luxury silverware market.
  6. Value:
    • Each place setting in this pattern typically retails for $300 to $500, depending on condition and specific utensils.
    • A full set like this, including serving pieces, could fetch between $3,000 and $4,500 at auction or through private sales.
    • Market demand and the sterling silver content may also influence the value.

Recommendations:

  • Authentication: Ensure the Georg Jensen marks and "Sterling Denmark" stamps are verified by a professional appraiser.
  • Care and Maintenance: Clean and polish the silverware appropriately to maintain its value.
  • Selling Options: Consider selling through high-end auction houses or specialty dealers in silverware or Georg Jensen items for maximum value.

Georg Jensen "Acorn" Sterling Silver Flatware

Your sterling flatware was originally introduced in 1915 and is still being produced today. At auction, you may get $375-400 per 5 piece place setting (dinner fork, salad fork, dinner knife, soup spoon and teaspoon). For your serving pieces, expect $125-150 for the carving set, $125-150 for the salad server set, $150-200 for the vegetable serving spoons and $75-100 for the cream/sauce ladle at auction.

Such a nice set!
