Japanese porcelain was marked Nippon from 1891 to 1921.

This is a site for a nippon collectors club... has a lot of good information that may be of help.. the first address is to pictures of back stamps and they have one that looks much as you described the one on your bottle to look...also look under their reproductions tab...
