Your lamp's design is based

Your lamp's design is based on Oriental incense burners. These were made in two types, those that were originally made as lamps and marketed as such, and those where a genuine incense burner has been butchered to make one ;~). Yours appears to be of the first variety and is worth about what you paid for it.

Hi Lovejoy, Are you certain

Hi Lovejoy,

Are you certain that it was made as a Lamp originally?  I don't think you can tell from the photo but there are a couple different places that have weldings and cutmarks.  When I figure out how to up load more pics, I'll make sure you can see these areas.

It wouldn't matter much one

It wouldn't matter much one way or the other, unless a piece is of extreme rarity, which this isn't. Once a piece has been altered this way it is devalued.
