Re: Japanese Satsuma Vase

can you add a picture of the mark....if its the words "Satsuma" it was made for export into the US.   Soem Satsuma is made in China, based on Japanese designs, so would need ot see the mark.  It is a very pretty vase through.

Re: Japanese Satsuma Vase

Hello,

The piece is produced in Japan during the late 1950's, early 60's and was purchased as tourist ware.

The type of raised decoration is known as "Moriage" work. It is not a later Chinese copy although to  be honest, it is not A++++ which some Satsuma artists are famous for. If you google Yabu Meizan or Kinkozan, you will see what I am talking about.

Value lies around the $100/$200 mark.

Regards,

Jordan.
