I have a teacup with the same picture in the bottom. My grandmother had it and I always asked her to let me look at it. Now I have the cup & saucer. Dont know much about it but it is different than yours. Mine says Norcrest Fine China Made in Japan 525/33 on the bottom of the saucer.  They are white with a gold dragon on it. Just very curious about it.

Based on your description Lealagirl , yours is a Dragonware style "Lithophane" teacup made after 1921, most predate World War two (1939). They were a mass produced item, with production going right through the 1960's and not considered rare. At auction you might get $25.00 for one.
