Description This is a very beautiful light green jade horse statue. I have not been able to find one similar to it. The head is held high & the right front leg is bent at the knee while the left front leg is tucked under. The detail of the face is very acurate. The base, which is a dark wood stained cherry or mahogany, has indentions so that the statue sit firm in the base.

it looks like a great piece but requires a real, hands on appraisal...if it is a real jade artifact...you could have quite a find. Good luck.

If you have a reputable local auction house...take it there, but do not let it out of your sight. Also, Skinner, Sotheby's, etc MAY do a pictorial evaluation or refer you to someone. Jade carvings from roadshow... http://www.maineantiquedigest.com/stories/index.html?id=1663 they may have only hit 1/2 their estimates but still...wow. Try visiting local museums with antique jade or even online catalogues...email for help/referrals, like to this one... http://www.asianart.org/jade.htm Good luck.

Hi,

Did you ever find anything out regarding the value of your horse?  I have one that is very similar, but darker greens.  I've been curious about the same things you asked!  Thanks!
