I just bought a similar violin... Merson symphony model... label doesn't give a year but say made in USSR occupied Germany... same case. Mine needs some work but I showed it to a violin repair shop and he said once fix would be worth around $800. What have you heard? I'm not sure in the current market it would get $800. It has good tone just need some bridge work and new strings. I'm not sure if I'll sell it as is or fix it play it or sell it. cheers Ian
