old wooden rocking chair

By dave cunningham, 15 February, 2014
Description

i purchased this chair in seasde, oregon in 1973 from a (quasi) junk dealer /antique shop. he was asking $800 dollars for it i offered him $185 and he laughed, however i left my name and phone number just in case he had a change of heart. he called me 2 weeks later and told me to come and get we have had since.  approx 5 years ago we had the seat springs redone by an elderly gentleman who would only work on these types of pieces, while this chair was in his shop multiple people tried to purchase he called several times our standard answer was" not for sale" he was pleased said he wouldn't sale either. the chair is 28 inches wide/ 41 inches tall/ seat area 21 inches deep. we are looking for a history of the chair, age, mfg, origin and today's approx value for insurance purposes.

thank all that can help
