Paalman Tea wagon

By moriahmorris, 10 January, 2018
Description

Brief history and description

The Paalman Furniture Company operated from its base in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Grand Rapids was a site for numerous well known furniture outlets, making products produced there automatically regarded as having a high quality. The company operated from the late 19th century until the early 20th century.

The tea carts produced by The Paalman Furniture Company have become desirable collectables amongst a certain sector of the antiques market, but they sell for wildly varying prices.

Guide for collectors

There is a scarcity of information for collectors of Paalman Furniture Company tea carts, due to their rarity and niche target market. However, they have been seen to sell from online auctioneers such as eBay, as well as from antique shops. They rarely appear at live auctions with major or specialist auction houses, but this is not unheard of.

Paalman Furniture Company tea carts can be assessed for their authenticity by checking for the distinctive gold label, normally located on the underside of the tea cart, which states in bold letters not only the name ‘Paalman Furniture Company’, but also ‘Made in Grand Rapids, Michigan’.
