Vintage Textured Glass Perfume Bottle

Category: Perfume Bottles
Medium: Blown or molded glass with heavy bubbled/textured surface
Dimensions: Approx. 5" height, 3" width
Condition: Excellent – no visible chips, cracks, or surface damage
Distinguishing Features:

  • Irregular surface texture resembling controlled bubble or foamed glass
  • Curved, wide-lipped rim typical of mid-century vanity perfume bottles
  • Possibly hand-crafted due to surface variation and subtle asymmetry
  • No visible maker’s mark or label

History & Style

Based on the shape, finish, and form, your perfume bottle may date between the 1940s and 1960s. The style is consistent with art glass perfume bottles popular in both American and Italian Murano production during this time. The bubbled/glittered effect in the glass was a popular design element intended to catch light and add glamour to vanity décor.

Since it belonged to your great-grandmother, this adds personal provenance and may suggest pre-1950s manufacture if she acquired it as an adult.

Estimated Value (Retail/Collector Market)

Because there is no maker’s mark, and assuming it's not Murano or another branded art glass line, the value is more decorative than collectible. However:

  • General vintage unmarked textured glass bottle: $35–$75 USD
  • If confirmed Murano (via testing or maker identification): $150–$300+
  • Sentimental/family heirloom value: Priceless

Recommendations

  1. Professional Appraisal: If you want to confirm origin, you may consult a vintage perfume bottle specialist or local antique dealer familiar with deco-era vanity glass or Murano attribution.
  2. UV Light or Loupe Inspection: Look closely under UV light or magnification for faint etched marks or pontil signatures.
  3. Compare Online: Search for “textured Murano perfume bottle,” “mid-century vanity perfume bottle,” or “controlled bubble glass perfume bottle” on eBay, Etsy, or Ruby Lane for close comparables.
