History
Polk Place , located in the center of Nashville's residential section , was built in 1807 by Felix Grundy.It was purchased by James Knox Polk while he was Governor of Tennessee.This residence served as his home after he retired in 1849, and where he died a short time later .His widow continued to live there for over 40 years.
