Description

Hand carved, dining chair set.  A masters chair with arms, a mistress chair and four side chairs.  Once were horse hair covered but refinished and recovered in early 1960's.  Orriginal coasters (rollers) on all chairs.

History Belonged to my great grandparents, my grandmother had them refinished and had the horse hair upholstery replaced. Great grandfather bought them in an estate sale in early 1900's. My parents had them and now I do.

 Rococo style chairs were made from about 1840 onward, but those with more simple lines like these tend to date from about 1870. Values for them at the moment have dropped considerably from the peak demand for balloon back and spoon back chairs in the late 1980's to early 90's. The side chairs often sell now at auction for under $50.00, the armchairs under $200.00
