Retro Headboard - Roommates by Baummritter

By Charles Zinn, 15 September, 2012
Description

This item is in fair condition. It does have small bruises, blemishes, fades, stains, scrapes and additional pilot holes where I attached my bed frame. The faded insignia reeds Roommates by Baumritter. I know Maple was often used in Baumritter furniture, but I don't know it this wood is Maple. What wood is this?

Despite the surface imperfections, the coloring holds smooth, bright and even. The photos show color variation. The color I would describe is umber, maybe burnt umber with golden hues depending on the light. There are some places where the varnish seems to be affected from a water stain, which I've tried to show in the photos. I  washing this with goof off to try and remove muck, but was affraid I was etching into the varnish.

The era is also a mystery to me. My father picked it up at a garage sale while he was in residency. Therefore he probably picked it up between '76 and '79. It feels retro to me. Maybe from the 60's. There is not a product number. I seem to remember seeing a printed number on the back when I was a child, but it is long since faded.

It is a nice piece of furniture that I don't have room for. I'm wondering about the value so that I can price it fairly for ebay.

Thanks,

Charlie Zinn
