Rosenthal 11" Crumpled Paper Bag Vase (Brown)

By Sharonq, 9 October, 2008
Description

This is a fabulous Crumpled Brown Paper Bag Vase by Rosenthal.  It is in excellent condiion with no scratches, cracks, nicks, etc.  with the excception of one of the bottom corners that shows a tiny bit of wear (unable to even capture it in a photo well) but, otherwise, it is excellent.  I have researched the paper bag vases by Rosenthal but I have not found much info on ones the size of mine.

I was not able to capture the Rosenthal inscription on the bottom very well in photos.  I would love to know more about it and what the value is.  I picked this piece up years ago and I just love it!

History
I purchased this at a yard sale for about $5-$10. I believe these paper bag vases were done for Rosenthal by a Scandinavian artist by the name of Taio Wirkkala. Mine does not have his name on it, however, just the Rosenthal impression. I have found many of these vases but I have not found any comparable in size to this one except one in Europe that is 19" high. I know the smaller ones are plentiful, but I was told the larger ones are much more rare than the newer and smaller ones.
