Description

I was going to sell this on Craigs list for $25.00. The person who called asked me if it was stamped on the bottom. It was. I thought hey, I've never done anything like this. I should try to research the worth of this item. Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Andrea

Re: S. Bent and Brothers kitchen table and chairs antique ...

"Samuel Bent formed the company in 1867 thus why all of the furniture built by the company has this number on it. The original furniture in the 1800's until the early 1900's was identified by "branding" burning a logo into the wood. When printing on paper became easier in the 1900's stickers were affixed to the furniture. The sticker's all had S.Bent & Bros. since 1867 Colonial chairs of quality.

S. Bent & Bros. built an extremely large amount of furniture until the company was purchased in 2001. I am unsure of the name of the new owners but they still operate out of the same factory in Gardner, Ma. S. Bent went out of business because of a law suit that was filed on behalf of his workers for unfair labor practices.

The bad news.....there is no real antique value even to the older furniture as it was mass produced in a factory and has many duplicates. "

Yours looks like it has a Formica top? I would say $50.00 would be fair if it is a good stable used kitchen set.

Re: S. Bent and Brothers kitchen table and chairs antique ...

I have a similar table with 4 chairs and 2 Captain's chairs. The table is definatley not formica. The Chairs are Branded Bent & Bros 1867 Gardner Mass. They belonged to my Mother-in Law. There are 2 leaves to the table as well. Would this be worth a bit more I wonder? My husband never wants to part with it due to sentimental reasons but if it were worth something...ha ha

Would you be able to tell me the height of the table?  I have a set of chairs and need a table made for them.
