Description This lovely secretary desk looks to be constructed of black walnut. It has a brass like plate on inside of lower drawer with a mans head wearing a winged Viking helmet and reads " Landstrom Furniture Corporation 1879 Rockford Illinois". Nice carvings on front drop door, lower outside drawer and all four legs. Beautiful swirled wood veneer on inside and outside drawer fronts. The desk measures 17.5" × 32" × 35" high. I have yet to find another like it on the Internet. Any information about it would be greatly appreciated.

Desks like this tend to date from the second quarter of the 20th Century, but look far older because they were designed to resemble English Sheraton & Hepplewhite style pieces made during the late 18th to early 19th Century. They are popular pieces today, we retail comparables in the $400.00- $600.00 range.
