sewing box ?

Hi 

Ive been internet trawling for weeks now trying to find anything like this please see photos as i am even stumped as to how to describe it . The best i can do is guess its a sewing box  any information anyone can give would be fanststic 

The stand is all wood . The basket is wood aswell 

The material is velvet 

This belongs to a friend who loves odd things and always asks me if i can help with the informtion but this time i am realy stuck
