silve cup

I found this cup at a thrift shop and bought it for a toothbrush holder. There were similar cups with "Congratulations Baby" engraved on them. The only identifying information on the cup is a paper tag on the botton that says "Made in India". There is a 3/8" raised rim with a 1/16" trim at bottom of the rim. I suppose it to be silver plated. It is in good condition. I am wondering what the content is beyond silver plating. I have tried looking on the internet for India Silver and have found nothing to indicate what the content might be. Am wondering if they would make an appropriate baby gift or no.
