Joan passed away a few years ago, she lived in Catheys Valley, CA. I have 15+ of her slate paintings and 2 of her canvas paintings. When in High School in the 70's I had to show Joan every piece of slate before stacking, she would pick out the ones she wanted. She was a very sweet lady. Joan's husband "Rem" put bases on all the slates or put hooks on the back, I don't see this on these. These most likley cost around $40 to $70 when they were purchased.
