Most items marked &quot;made in Japan&quot; date after 1941. There are few exceptions.<br />

<p>Actually no, &quot;Made in Japan&quot; marks can predate World War Two and were used as early as the 1920&#39;s. Trading ceased with Japan during the war, most pieces made after the war were marked &quot;Occupied Japan&quot; until 1952 . Orion was still in business after the war, but like most Japanese makers, their output is very modestly priced, little decorative pieces like this sell for under $20.00.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Lovejoy </p><p>&nbsp;</p>
