Re: "The Smithy" Paul Detlefsen print 1966
Have been interested in this piece since seeing it in a laundromat in north Arlington, Virginia in the late 70's. They were asking $350 at the time, as I recall, for a print that was somewhat faded.
I mentioned it to a vendor of art work at The Virginia Horse Center in Lexington during a horse show about 2003. She used a hyperbole I can not remember to express her interest.
The late Paul Detlefsen was a career illustrator in the Hollywood studios. His "Serenity" sold for $2,000 about 2011.
There are sure to be others out there who are more familiar and up-to-date on his work and with the availability and appraised value of "The Smithy."
Hope this helps a little. He appeals to the Lincoln Rockwell enthusiast among whom I am one.
I wish an art dealer would look into getting rights and making new reproductions available in the market again. Our equestrian friends and farmers with an interest in Americana would be thrilled.

A lot of his prints go quite cheaply, I've seen "The Smithy" go for under $50.00 in recent years.
Re: "The Smithy" Paul Detlefsen print 1966
I just rescued a PD "Smithy" from a storage shed. Its beautiful...excellent condition and looks to be in an original frame of light Pecan with an interesting mini dentil on the 2nd inner band of the frame.
Painting is excellent. So do we know how much it is worth? Its frame is 30 X 50
Thanks for your help.
