Description We think its a civil war sword. It has a swirled handled. On the end closest to the handle, the sheath or sleeve has the engraving, "Presented to Capt. Frank M Cooley by Hon. L.E. Ancona of Reading, Pa. May 1861 The sheath is leather I think with two metal loops near the handle. The blade has all kinds of decorative engraving with US in the middle
