I found a vintage Hamilton Rodney retirement watch given to a retiree from the National Gypsum Co in 1958....paid $70 in an antique shop. The watch is in excellent condition, and came with the original Speidel bracelet. The bracelet was too small for my wrist, so I put a leather band on it, but I still have the Speidel.
The watch uses a 18j 735 Hamilton movement and serial number is S149336 and 10K gold filled case.
The watch is in excellent condition. The crystal was pretty scratched up when I got it, but I was able to buff it out rather than replace it. I have kept it original and have not touched the dial.
It is surprisingly very clean and runs like a boss!! Fully wound, it will run up to two days without losing a minute.
I plan on keeping it and handing it down to one of my boys, but I would very much like to know what it might be worth and the exact year it was made.
I have tried researching the serial number, and have been to dozens of sites online, unfortunately none of them list Hamilton wrist watch serial numbers beyond 1948.
