Vintage Black Baseball Hat

This vintage black hat has a white letter "H" on it. I do not know what it stands for, and there is no manufacturer labeled anywhere throughout the piece. The only words on it is the name "J. Barry" which is written in marker of some sort on the inside, but is very faded. The inside of the hat has a leather band around where the head would go and an elastic band on the back. It looks similar to the vintage 1930s Harvard baseball hat, but it is black, not maroon. Any help on this item will be appreciated! Thank you!
