Description
Hello there, I was hoping to get your help on this as I cannot find anything about it. It is a metal fork with U.S.P. imprint and a J imprint, it is a MODERNAIRE 1. I have seen U.S.C.G. and U.S.N. on these items as shown on these listings on ebay but nothing as significant as a United States Penitentiary item possibly from Alcatraz.
I have searched Google and various sites about it and cannot really find a lot of information. I looked up the acronym U.S.P. and found that possibly was for United States Penitentiary or Utah State Prison. I know the United States Penitentiary's were federalized in the 40's, and so on. I was thinking possibly from Leavenworth Penitentiary or even Alcatraz, and was wondering if they even had metal silverware at those facilities at that time for staff or inmates alike.
