12.5" Vintage Villeroy & Boch hand painted flower plate. Plate has the saying - Chickens lay eggs (on the top lip) - Girls look for husbands (on the bottom lip) written in German Sutterlinschrift 1911 alphabet, and the number U43 is on the back along with the "makers mark". It's in perfect condition.
The plate belonged to a set of 8 different plates with slogans. U43 is the name of the hand painted pattern. Plate was produced at the former Villery & Boch factory in Dresden (1855-1945) during the second have of the 1930's. Tableware was noy dated individually so the exact date of manufactoring can not be determined.
