Since my last post I have done more research, according to the Kovels Book Dictionary of Marks 1650 to 1850 this mark appears to be the mark from the Wheeling West Virginia Ohio Valley China Co ; Circa 1890.

I guess I would like to have someone verify that...so I know my eyes are seeing this correctly.

And was real gold leaf applied to this vase?

Also would anyone have an idea as to what the value of this might be?

I've been researching for some pieces we have at these two sites. You might want to take a look and see what you can find. I think I've finally identified ours as well...takes a lot of work, doesn't it? ;)

http://gotheborg.com/

http://www.gbouvier.com</a> You will want to register at this site so that you can go into the directory to look at marks. You get a month free and then they want you to pay. Good luck!

I appreciate your advice! I just recently inherited a house full of antiques due to my Dad's passing so all the resouces & help I can get will be greatly appreciated!

It is fun to research...I can't stop til I figure it out either. I don't have a house full of antiques but I have a few items to identify. Did you happen to see the wooden game I posted on here yesterday? Maybe you know what it is. I'll be checking in daily and will be more than happy to help you.

Becky

Yes it does take a lot of work, but I have been a novice appraiser for a while now. My Husband jokes with me about how I should have become an investigator because of my "can't let it go attitude". But I just love researching the mystery!
