Exquisit Asian Ivory King/Queen figurine, large set and small set

By evocmanager, 22 August, 2011
Description

My grandfather had purchased this in 1965 while assigned in the Orient, through a known and trusted source. He had collected numerous items such as plaques, tables, furniture, Hakata Dolls, but this was the only ivory he had ever purchased.

I had acquired these many items upon his death, and am a bit tired of keeping them in a safe. I am now looking for a buyer.

About 5 years ago, I had seen an identical figurine set of my large ones in San Francisco for sale at at $10,000.00 I have no idea what they are worth, but my memory of the original purchase in 1965 was that the small set was more expensive to buy due to the far greater detail.
