Oriental antique ivory figurines

Description

Antique ivory carved figures. Stand 12 inches tall and 21/8 at the base. Beautifully carved with exquisite detail. Female with a rose in hand and giraffe at her feet. Male is carrying a walking stick and flowers with a man on horseback at his feet. On the reverse sides the male figure has a man carrying two sacks on a stick, the female has several flowers behind her. Both pieces are signed as well as the bases. Signature appears to be oriental but resembles an "S" over "H", very old and difficult to read the characters. Both figures have a beautiful patina, perhaps to much for some but I refuse to clean. Value is unknown, however the closest I've found we're only 31/2 inches tall and were selling for over $600 each.

Many information on these pieces would be greatly appreciated.
