A trinket box made of Rock / Stone

By Scruppy, 7 July, 2013
Description

I found this box at a fire sale of a thrift store.  The man had no idea where he got it and couldn't tell me anything about it.  He offered to give it to me and I took it.  It feels to be made of actual rock and looks to be a trinket box.  Both the box and the lid are felt lined.  I have no idea of what type of markings are on it or what they mean, if anything.  There is a name carved in the bottom but I can't make the first part of it out.  I cannot find any information on this at all.  The box weighs 1 lb. 13 oz. and measures 5" wide  x 3 1/4" deep x 4" tall.  Am interested in selling but I hate to list at my store online until I'm sure of what it is.  Thanks!
