Dresser with decorative painting

By jthamkul, 11 August, 2017
Description

Hi,

My husband purchased this dresser at a thrift shop in San Francisco about 20 years ago. The shop owner suggested that the piece was an antique, but did not provide any details. The dresser is made of wood (maybe pine? I have no idea) and has roughly hewn dovetail drawers and round ball feet. Someone had painted over the edges (border of the top, sides, and bottom panel) with blue paint, so I scraped it off. Underneath is a green paint with gold detail. The bottom panel had an oval of green with a gold border and floral decoration. The center drawer also has a floral decoration painted on. I'm wondering what era this is from.

Thanks!
