Antique Miniature Portraits

By ertwy_08, 1 March, 2023
Description

Hi all,
Have acquired these 2 miniatures and was wondering if people would be so kind as to give me their thoughts.
The first one is definitely painted, and appears to be painted on ivory. There is a small chip in the paint you can see in the photo, but not really visible when in frame. There is some sort of signature or name, but can't make out.
The second one is also backed on ivory I think (there is paper backing over the top I don't want to remove) and certain parts of it are definitely painted, like the jewellery and dress, but not sure on all of it, is hard to make out. This one looks Edwardian, while the other is earlier.
Both are in quite old brass frames.
Thanks for any thoughts!
