Two monks in a tree

By msvianen, 31 July, 2007
Description

Here is a picture of two monks under a tree. I guess they are monks. Unfortunately the top of the tree has a broken branch. It was broken before I got it. Someone tried to glue it back and then the branch finally broke off. The base needs to be handled with care because it is not fully connected, but that is because it was carved in such a way. One of the guys is holding a bird in his hand. There are a few small knicks in the statue. I am just wondering if anyone knows the history on this or what it really is?
